The main issue most designers face while creating any type of logo is the selection of unique and eye-catching images. Such images must have relevancy with the logo theme – for some, you need traditional classy emblems and for some others, modish and stylish motifs are good. Same holds true for a DJ logo design where selection of right pictures can make a real difference. Since it’s a modern and trendy business, the logo ought to reflect the same. Your logo must be groovy and vibrant with images that are up-to-date with new musical demands.
I’ve feel that musical instruments can be a good option for DJ logo images. However, there is a long list of DJ equipment and you ought to know which ones can look cool on your DJ logo. Here are 5 instruments, I like very much. I’ve already experimented with them and the result was awesome. These instruments have something in them, which I don’t really know, that make you yearn for a disco party. Let’s have a look at them with little details on how I used them in my designs, so you can get some helpful ideas.
• DJ Deck: Also called as turntable, this is actually the main tool without which a DJ might face difficulty in doing his/her job. I used a clip art of deck and rotate the image slightly to right. Fortunately, the name of DJ for whom I was designing this logo started with C and it fitted really well with the round record. The entire clip art was in black colour, so, to balance it, I used multi-coloured font.
• CD Turn Table: It is the latest instrument for DJs that looks much similar to DJ deck but is designed specifically for playing CDs. For two of my DJ logos, I have used the cartoony images of DJs with CD turntable and I can’t tell you how cute they were.
• Mixers: There are so many types of music styles that DJs ought to know the art of mixing really well and must have the latest mixing instrument to win their audience hearts. Since it’s a complicated instrument, inserting its image in the logo can be tricky. After hours of experimentation with a lot of ideas I finally discovered that by using few buttons of mixer, instead of the entire box image, you can come up with unique pictures.
• Head Phones: How can you make all others listen to your played tracks but don’t keep track of them yourself? If you are a DJ, you definitely need a headphone to listen to your mix before playing it for audience. Headphones are easiest to be used in logos and I have used them plenty of times in number of ways.
• Microphone: As a DJ, you won’t only queue the tracks for the listeners, you’d have to use your voice as well. You might be asked to make any announcement or may also, sometimes, sing for them. So get ready with your microphone. Recently, I used the pencil picture of microphone in a logo and received the remarks that it is one of the few cool DJ logos ever created. I am still dancing on air.
